'KEENE, N.H. 10/5/02 - The Keene State College women's soccer
team improved its record to 8-1-1 and reMEd undefeated in the
Little East Conference (2-0) with a 3-0 shutout victory over the
University of Southern ME in a homecoming game on Saturday.
Keene State scored all three of its goals in the first half.
Erin Lester's (Walpole, N.H.) team-leading seventh goal of the
season, on a header, put KSC ahead 1-0 at the 5:57 mark.
Aleisha Nelly (Guilford, CT) put in a crossing ball from Collen
Antonini (Plymouth, MA.) to make it 2-0, and Karyn Long (Menands,
N.Y.) completed the first half scoring with her first goal of the
season.
Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) (four saves) with late help from
Sarah Campbell (Auburn, MA.) (one save) posted the combine
shutout. Marcy Ansley (Hudson, MA.) had a busy day in goal
for the Huskies (1-7, 0-2 LEC) with 12 saves. Rachel Kwantz
(Wiscasset, ME) had one save late in the game.
KSC will host Worcester State on Monday (7 p.m.).
