'KEENE, N.H. 10/7/02 - Erin Lester (Walpole, N.H.) had a goal
and two assists to lead Keene State College to a 3-0 shutout
victory over Worcester State College in a non-conference women's
soccer game played in Keene on Monday.
It was the fifth straight win and the fourth consecutive shutout
for KSC (9-1-1). The 9-1-1 start is the best for the Owls
since the 1997 team began 10-1-1. Worcester State falls to 6-3.
Dominating play from the start, the Owls, ranked second in the
region, scored two minutes into the game when Jennifer Ortisi
(Allenstown, N.H.) took a lead pass from Lester and beat Lancer
goalie Erin Hazen (Richford, VT) to the far corner. Lester gave KSC
a 2-0 halftime lead when she headed in a crossing ball from Kerri
Paquette (Milbury, MA.). Lester now has a team-leading eight goals.
The Owls' third goal resulted from a nice passing play.
Receiving a cross from Ortisi in the box, Lester sent a touch pass
over Aleisha Nelly (Guilford, CT) on the left side, who fired the
ball into the net.
Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) needed just one save to record
her fifth shutout of the season. Hazen finished with 13 saves for
the Lancers.
