'KEENE, N.H. 9/12/02 - Playing her first home game for the
Owls, junior forward Erin Lester (Walpole, N.H.) came off the bench
to score three goals and Amy Lamson (Bridgewater, MA.) added a pair
of goals to lead the Keene State College women’s soccer
team to a 5-0 victory over Clark University in Keene on Thursday.
Keene State remains undefeated with a 3-0-1 record while Clark
University (0-3) suffered its third straight loss.
Lester and Lamson scored first half goals for the Owls.
Lester converted a lead pass from Sarah Miller (Walpole, N.H.) for
her first goal and Lamson fired in a loose ball in the crease.
It reMEd 2-0 until KSC scored three quick goals in a four-minute
span with just over 16 minutes to play. After tallying her
second goal of the game by beating two Clark defenders, Lester got
her hat trick goal when she headed in a cross from Jen Ortisi
(Allenstown, N.H.).
“I’ve been looking forward to playing in
this game for a long time, “ said Lester, who spent the
past two years at Southern Connecticut. “I played
in this area for a long time, so it was nice to go out and have a
good game.”
It was Lester’s first three goals in a KSC uniform and
the first two goals of the year for Lamson.
KSC, which dominated play form the start, outshot the Cougars
31-2.
Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) with a little help in the
closing minutes from Sarah Campbell (Auburn, MA.), who made the
lone Owl save, posted the shutout for KSC.
Rebecca Dezan (Kendall Park, N.J.) had a busy night in goal for
the Cougars with 15 saves.
KSC is off until a game against Westfield State next Wednesday.
