'KEENE, N.H. 9/18/02 - The Keene State College
women’s soccer team reMEd undefeated with a 3-1
non-conference victory over Westfield State College in Keene on
Wednesday.
The Owls improve to 4-0-1 on the season while Westfield State,
coached by former KSC two-time All-America Heather
Boisvere-Langone, falls to 0-3-1.
KSC scored the first three goals of the game. After WSC
goalie Natalia Araszkiewicz made a pair of superb saves on
consecutive shots by Aleisha Nelly (Guilford, CT) and Jennifer
Ortisi (Allenstown, N.H.), the Owls finally got on the board when
Erin Lester (Walpole, N.H.) took a lead pass from Carolyn Crawford
and beat Araszkiewicz for her team-leading fourth goal of the
season.
Missy Mengual (East Berlin, CT) gave KSC a 2-0 lead at the half
when she headed in a corner kick from Sarah Miller (Walpole, N.H.).
It was Mengual’s first collegiate tally.
Returning to action after missing the last two games with a knee
injury Suzanne Heinkel (Westfield, N.J.) completed the scoring for
KSC when she converted a crossing pass from Colleen Antonini
(Plymouth, MA.) for her first goal of the season.
KSC lost its shutout bid when Katy Winter (Rowley, MA.) scored
for Westfield State with four minutes to play.
Goalies Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) and Sarah Campbell
(Auburn, MA.) were not credited with saves in the game.
Araszkiewicz finished with 14 saves for WSC.
KSC will host Wheaton College in a key regional game at Owl
Stadium Complex on Saturday (3:30 p.m.).
