'GLASSBORO, N.J. 9/8/02 - The Keene State College women's soccer
team battled Rowan University to a 1-1 tie in the championship game
of the Rowan University Tournament, Sunday in Glassboro, N.J.
Following regulation play, the two teams took penalty shots to
declare a tournament champ and the Owls prevailed.
KSC's goal came at the 19-minute mark of the first half when
Aleisha Nelly (Guilford, CT) scored on her own rebound.
Andrea Adinolfi tied the game with a goal at 58:09 of the second
half.
KSC goalie Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) finished the game
with four saves.
"We would have like to have gotten the win, but we'll take a tie
against the 24th ranked team in the country," said KSC coach Denise
Lyons.
KSC (2-0-1) will play its home season opener against Clark
University on Thursday at 6 p.m.
The Profs of Rowan go to 4-0-1.
