'KEENE, N.H. 10/21/03 - Jason Lombardo (Woburn, Mass.) had two
goals, his fifth and sixth goals in the last two games, to lead the
Keene State College men's soccer team to a 5-2 non-conference
victory over Western New England College at Owl Athletic Complex on
Tuesday.
Winners of three straight, KSC improves to 10-5-1. WNEC, which
was shooting for the program's 300th victory, falls to 4-8-3.
The Owls scored the first four goals of the game. Lombardo gave
KSC a 1-0 a the 19:58 mark. The junior forward beat
WNEC goalie Jay Martyn (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) to the ball and fired
it into the far corner. John Harke (Leeds, Mass.) extended the Owls
lead to 2-0 when he put Luke Trills's cross into the far corner of
the net. Lombardo gave KSC a 3-0 at half-time lead with a
bullet from 30-yards out.
Casey Banks (Westborough, Mass.) got his eighth of the season on
a rebound to make it 4-0 early in the second half.
The Golden Bears came back with two second half goals.
Kwame Ofosu (Worcester, Mass) scored on Scott Bullis' (Barre, Vt.)
corner kick to make it 4-1 and Pat Danby (Cheshire Conn.) deflected
a pass from Kyle Lindsay (Cumberland, R.I.) to close the gap to
4-2.
Fransicso Vasconcelos scored his first goal of the season to
give KSC a 5-2 lead late in the game.
Brandon Beck (Johnstown, N.Y.) had one save. Martyn had
seven saves and Kevin Koch (Cester, N.Y.) didn't have a save in 19
minutes of action in the second half for WNEC.
KSC is at R.I. College for a Little East game on Saturday (1
p.m.).
