'KEENE, N.H. 10/6/03 - Katie Parkinson's (So. Kingstown, R.I.)
goal one minute into the first overtime period enabled Keene State
College to post a 1-0 non-conference women's soccer victory against
Worcester State College in Worcester, Mass., on Monday. It was the
Owls' third straight shutout.
Parkinson's goal, her third of the season and third in the last
two games, was set up by freshman Tara Wagner (Avon, Conn.), the
LEC's rookie of the week. . Wagner delivered a crossing ball and
Parkinson, running through, drilled the ball into the far right
corner of the net.
KSC (8-3-1), which outshot the Lancers 15-2, once again had
trouble maneuvering around the WSC's turf field and finishing their
scoring opportunities.
Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) stopped four shots to notch her
fifth shutout of the season and 29th of her career. Kay Masa
had 14 saves for Worcester State (4-5), which has lost its last
four games.
The Owls return to LEC play at Plymouth State on Saturday (4
p.m.)
