'WELLESLEY, MA. 4/19/02 – The Keene State
College baseball team split a Little East Conference doubleheader
against UMA-Boston at Babson College in Wellesley, MA. on Saturday.
After dropping the first game 4-2, the Owls came back to take
the nightcap 14-5
KSC took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the opener on a
two-run home run by John Trubiano (Keene, N.H.) Owl bats went
silent and UMB scored single runs in the third, fifth, sixth and
seventh inning to post the win.
Owls' starter Jim Slack (Manchester, N.H.) (0-3) took the loss
for KSC. He had seven strikeouts.
Keene State bats exploded for 16 hits in the second game. The
Owls broke the game open early with four runs in the first and five
runs in the second inning. Trubiano had a two run single in the
first and Justin Hickman delivered two runs with a single in the
second.
Trubiano went four-for-five in the game and finished the
twinbill with five RBIs Nick Bujeaud (Lincoln, N.H.) had three hits
and Jeremy Schilling (Centerville, MA.) and Mike MAeur (Warwick,
R.I.) added two hits each in the second game.
Freshman Ryan Kohler (Alstead, N.H.) improved his record to 3-2
with the victory. Andrew Caplice (Marston Mills, MA.) and
Corey Hartson (Merrimack, N.H.) pitched in relief.
Keene State goes to 7-14 (2-3 LEC) while the Beacons are now
5-18 (3-6 LEC).
The Owls host Southern ME on Sunday (12 p.m.) in a make-up LEC
doubleheader.
