KSC Men's Soccer Rolls Against Springfield 6-0

'KEENE, N.H. 9/10/03 - Joey Amaio (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Luke Trill (Northfield, Mass.) scored two goals each to lead the Keene State College men's soccer team to a 6-0 non-conference shutout victory over Springfield College in Keene, N.H. on Wednesday.

KSC improves to 3-2 while Springfield (1-1) suffered its first loss of the season.

The Owls didn't waste any time getting on the board with Jason Lombardo (Woburn, Mass.) deflecting in John Harke's (Leeds, Mass.) corner kick just 1:23 into the game.

KSC had a chance to add to its lead later in the half when Amaio was taken down in the box, but Lombardo missed the penalty kick opportunity when his shot dribbled past the left post.

KSC did extend its lead with two more goals before the half ended. Amaio fired in a loose ball for his third goal of the season and Trill (Northfield, Mass.) made it 3-0 four minutes later when he finished off a feed from Casey Banks (Westborough, Mass.) for his first goal of the season.

Trill and Amaio scored their second goals of the game and Justin Hickman (Mont Vernon, N.H.) got his first of the season in the second half.

Brandon Beck (Johnstown, N.Y.) (two saves) and James Munsell (Sherborn, Mass.) (two saves) each played a half for KSC to share the shutout win.  Tom Bowden (Havertown, Pa.) had three saves and David Minkoff (Oceanside, N.Y.) stopped four shots for the Pride.

KSC travels to Wheaton College for a key regional game on Saturday (1 p.m.)
