'KEENE, N.H. 9/6/03 - New Jersey City University spoiled Keene State College home opener with a 1-0 victory over the Owls in the second game of the Diadora-Dunkin' Donuts Soccer Showdown at Owl Athletic Complex.

Pedro Prior's goal at the 22:51 mark of the first half stood up as the game-winner.

It was a very frustrating day for the Owls, who once again had trouble finishing.. Falling behind 1-0, KSC had several opportunities to knot the score in the first half.  Four minutes later, Casey Banks'(Westborough, Mass.) shot just went wide of the far post and Jason Lombardo (Woburn, Mass.) hit the cross-bar with 2:43 to go.

In the second half, Banks and Lombardo broke through the NJCU defense, but neither could get a foot on the ball before it was corralled by Gothic Knight goalie Bruce Neves. Neves later stuffed a shot from the right side by Derrick Amaio with seven minutes to play.

Neves (Newark, N.J.) finished with seven saves while KSCC netminder Brandon Beck (Johnstown, N.Y.) had one save.

NJCU plays Norwich at noon and KSC faces Rowan at 2:30 p.m. in Sunday's games.
