Men's Soccer: No. 15 Owls Held Scoreless Against WNEC

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 10/19/04 - Western New England College upset Keene State College 1-0 in a non-conference men's soccer game played Tuesday in Springfield, Mass.

After a scoreless first half, WNEC scored the only goal of the match on an own goal. Owl back Mike Lewis (Manchester, Conn.) on a deflection, kicked the ball over the head of goalie Brandon Beck (Johnstown, N.Y.) following a shot by WNEC's Mike Zawlsiak.

Keene State, ranked 15th nationally and second in New England, controlled play throughout the half, but was unable to muster a goal.

Beck had one save and the Golden Bears Jay Martyn finished with two saves.

The Owls (11-3-1) return to Little East action on Saturday (1 p.m.) when they host R.I. College. WNEC improves to 11-5-1.
