Providence, RI - Keene State improved its Little East Conference
record to 5-0-1 and took another step forward in clinching the top
seed in the LEC Tournament with a, 3-0, shutout victory over Rhode
Island College in collegiate women's soccer action on Saturday
afternoon.
KSC is now 10-5-1 overall, while RIC falls to 9-8 overall and
1-5 in the LEC.
The Owls drew first blood in the tenth minute as sophomore
Breanne Lucey (Keene, NH) scored on a pass from sophomore Tara
Wagner (Avon, CT). Wagner added an insurance goal in the 22nd
minute as she bent a corner kick past RIC junior goalkeeper Alex
Rothemich (Scituate, RI). Sophomore Courtney Gately (Canton, MA)
ended the Owls' offensive output on the day with a goal in the 39th
minute. Junior Sarah Miller (Walpole, NH) assisted on Gately's
tally.
KSC senior goalkeeper Michelle Mason (Fairport, NY) made eight
saves to earn the shutout, while Rothemich made three stops for the
Anchorwomen.
In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen will host Amherst on
Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. Keene State will play at Bridgewater
State on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m.
