'KEENE, N.H. 4/20/04 - Keene State College and Mass. College of
Liberal Arts battled to a 6-6 tie in a non-conference baseball game
called after 11 innings at Owl Athletic Complex on Tuesday.
KSC loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but Jeremy
Schilling (Centerville, Mass.) grounded out to third to end the
rally. In the bottom of the 11th, the Owls had runners on second
and third, but pinch hitter John Maryanski (Nashua, N.H.) popped
out to shortstop.
Schilling tied a school record with five hits in the game.
Mike Masseur (Warwick, R.I.) finished the game with four hits.
Robert Merrill (Colchester, Conn.) had a two run single to
highlight a four run fifth inning that put Keene State ahead
6-1.
Mass College tied the game in the top of the eighth on RBI hits
from Jamison Rigoli (Bolton, Mass.) and Scott Patenaude (North
Adams, Mass.). Patenaude scored the tying run on a wild
pitch.
Owl starter Corey Bell (Swanzey, N.H.) struck out eight and
walked four in 7.1 innings. Peter Bergeron (Keene, N.H.)
pitch 2.2 innings of strong relief not allowing a hit and fanning
two.
Rigoli had two hits for MCLA (10-9-1). Shawn Senecal
(North Adams, Mass.), who took over for starter Seamus Morrison
(Pittsfield, Mass.), pitched 6.2 innings of scoreless relief for
the Trailblazers. He gave up just five hits.
Keene State (11-12-1) travel to Plymouth State University on
Wednesday (3 p.m.).
