'PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Junior Bill Green (Montgomery, N.Y.) cracked a
double and two home runs and knocked in four Wednesday afternoon to
lead Keene State College to a 15-4 victory over rival Plymouth
State University in a Little East Conference baseball game at
Panther Park.
Green and senior Justin Hickman (Mont Vernon, N.H.), who also
had three hits and drove in three, led a 16-hit attack for the
Owls. Keene State evened its record at 12-12-1 overall and 4-4 in
the LEC, while Plymouth State fell to 3-19 overall and 1-7 in
conference play.
Sophomore Jeremy Schilling (Centerville, Mass.) helped the Owls
to a 3-0 first-inning advantage with a two-run homer. The
Panthers came back with two runs in both the second and third
innings. Sophomore C.J. Rousseau (Merrimack, N.H.) singled in
the second inning and later came around to score on a passed ball,
and senior Jay Morgan (Laconia, N.H.)
brought home a run with an RBI double. Sophomore Adam
Kobeski (Walpole, N.H.) gave PSU a 4-3 lead in the third inning
with a two-run homer, his second of the season.
Keene State tied the game with a run in the fourth inning as
sophomore Justin Cox (East Swanzey, N.H.) delivered an RBI
single. The Owls took the lead for good with three runs in
the fifth. The first came home on a Panther error, and Hickman and
Green both added run-scoring doubles.
Green hit his first homer in the seventh inning to make it an
8-4 score, and the Owls put the game away with six runs in the
eighth inning. Hickman registered a two-run single, freshman
Matt Beam(Alstead, N.H.) followed with a run-scoring single, senior
Tim Kendrick(Middletown, R.I.) chipped in with a sacrifice fly, and
Green capped the
rally with his second homer of the game and fourth of the
season.
Freshman lefthander Rick Stromgren (Keene, N.H.) worked into the
eighth inning for the Owls and picked up the win to improve to 3-1.
PSU plays another home game against a Granite State foe on
Thursday, hosting Colby-Sawyer at Panther Park (3:30
p.m.). Keene State plays a non-conference game Thursday at
Westfield State (3:30 p.m.).
