W. Soccer: Owls Edged by Plattsburgh 1-0

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. 9/5/04 - It wasn't a good Labor Day Weekend for the Keene State College women's soccer team in upper state New York. The Owls suffered a pair of shutouts at the Plattsburgh State Cardinal Classic.

After dropping a 3-0 game to Skidmore College on Saturday, KSC lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to host team 1-0 on Sunday. Gena Rosenbaum's goal just 10 seconds into the first overtime game Plattsburgh (2-1) the victory. The Owls, who fall to 1-2, mustered just six shots on net.

Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) finished the game with five saves for KSC while Joia Aliperti stopped three Owl shots.

"It was tough to lose both games of the tournament, but I thought we learned a lot about ourselves," said KSC Coach Denise Lyons. "We need to go back to work."

KSC's Michelle Harmon, a junior midfielder from Nashua, was selected to the All-Tournament team.

Keene State will play at Framingham State next Saturday (2 p.m.).
