'MEDFORD, MASS. 10/18/05 - Ranked first in New England and
sixth nationally, Tufts University scored a pair of second half
goals en route to a 2-0 shutout victory over Keene State College in
a non-conference women's soccer game played Tuesday afternoon in
Medford, Mass.
Keene State falls to 6-4-3 while Tufts (10-1), after dropping
its first game, has won 10 straight.
The Owls held the top ranked Jumbos off the board until the 70th
minute when Lydia Claudio (Woburn, Mass.) scored on a penalty
kick. Ariel Samuelson (Newton, Mass.) added a break-away goal
late in the game.
KSC's best opportunity to score came in the first half when
Courtney Gately's (Canton, Mass.) bid was saves by Annie Ross
(Newton, Mass.).
KSC goalie Sarah Campbell (Auburn, Mass.) finished with nine
saves while Ross stopped four Owl shots.
KSC returns home to face LEC rival Eastern Conn. on Thursday (3
p.m.) at Sumner Joyce Field.
