SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 04/01/05 - Matt Orszulak (Campton, N.H.)
delivered a key hit in a five run seventh ining and Rick Stromgren
(Keene, N.H.) pitched six scoreless inings to lead Keene State
College to a 6-1 victory over Springfield College, this afternoon
in non-conference baseball action at Berry-Allen Field.
Springfield College senior pitcher Kevin Davidson (Claremont,
N.H.) threw six scoreless innings and recorded eight strikeouts,
but it was Keene State defeating the Pride.
Keene State senior outfielder Orszulak smashed a three run
double that cleared the bases in the seventh inning and the Owls
(9-5) never looked back.
The Pride (5-5) scattered nine hits throughout the game, but
could only plate one run, while leaving seven runners left on base.
SC junior outfielder James Miner (Methuen, Mass) drilled a single
to right field scoring Matt Basteri (Melrose, Mass) for the Pride's
lone run in the seventh inning. Basteri went 2-for-4 on the day
with a pair of singles.
Stromgren (1-0 earned the win for the Owls. He fanned three and
allowed but six hits in six innings on the mound.
KSC scheduled game at Rhode Island College on Saturday has been
postponed ude to rain. No make up has been set.
