AMHERST, MA. 04/13/05 - The Keene State College baseball team
dropped a 9-3 non-conference baseball game to Amherst College in
Amherst, Mass. on Wednesday.
KSC falls to 13-7, while Amherst goes to 9-3.
Keene State scored two runs in the top of the third when Mike
Masseur (Warwick, R.I.) reached on an error and scored on a
sacrifice fly by Pat Austin (Wallingford, Conn.), and Greg Ford
(Nashua, N.H.) ripped an RBI triple. Amherst chipped away with two
more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead and never
looked back. John Grainger (Keene, N.H.) scored on a fielder's
choice ground out by pinch hitter Joe Rousseau (Nashua, N.H.) for
the Owls' lone score in the top of the sixth.
Grainger had two hits to lead KSC. Zach Schonberger (Rye, N.Y.)
went four-for-five with four RBI's to lead Amherst.
KSC starter Ryan Kohler (2-1) (Alstead, N.H.) took the loss for
the Owls. Nick Kehoe (Washington Depot, Conn.) picked up the win
for Amherst.
Keene State (13-7) will travel to Fitchburg State College for a
non-conference game on Thursday (3:30 p.m.).
