KEENE, N.H. 4/21/05 - Keene State College collected 11 hits en
route to a 13-2 non-conference baseball victory over Westfield
State at Owl Athletic Complex on Thursday. Keene State improves to
17-11 while Westfield falls to 11-17.
The Owls didn't waste anytime getting on the board. With one out
in the first, Pat Austin (Wallingford, Conn.) doubled and came home
on Greg Ford's (Nashua, N.H.) first home run of the season. KSC
added one more run in the third when Austin scored from third on
Jeremy Schilling's (Centerville, Mass.) stolen base.
Keene State scored four more runs in the fifth on run producing
hits from Schilling and Robert Merrill (Colchester, Conn.), a
fielders' choice by Josh Watkins (Keene, N.H.) and a RBI triple
from Mike Masseur(Warwick, R.I.).
Westfield got two runs back in the seventh on sacrifice flies
from C.J. Ahearn (Hudson, Mass.) and Troy Ferguson (Rochester,
Mass.).
KSC batted around in the bottom of the inning scoring six runs.
Matt Orszulak (Campton, N.H.), Joe Rousseau (Nashua, N.H.), and
Nick Arroyo (Northridge, Ca.) delivered RBI hits. Austin,
Schilling, and Orszulak finished the game with two hits each for
KSC.
Mike Corsano (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) (2-1) pitched six scoreless
innings. He gave up three hits, struck out six and walked one to
notch his second win of the season. Mike Domurad (Mansfield, Mass.)
who gave up seven runs on six hits over five innings, took the loss
for WSC.
Keene State hosts Southern Maine in a LEC doubleheader on
Saturday (12 p.m.).
