KEENE, N.H. 4/28/05 - Keene State collected 10 hits en route to
a 10-1 non-conference baseball victory over New England College on
Thursday. Mark Plourd (South Windsor, Conn.) had two RBIs to lead
the Owls (18-11).
The Owls took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Greg Ford
(Nashua, N.H) hit a home run, his second of the season, that just
cleared the right-centerfield fence and John Grainger (Keene, N.H.)
added an RBI double. KSC broke the game open with four more runs in
the fifth as Andrew Buell (Petersham, Mass.) and Scott Emerton
(Goffstown, N.H.) delivered RBI hits.
The Pilgrims got their only run in the sixth on Mike Newman's
(Somers, N.Y.) RBI single. Starter Phil Mabey (Williamstown, Mass.)
gave up two hits while striking out three and walking two to
improve his record to 3-2.
Jimmy Burns (Medford, Mass.) (0-4) took the loss for NEC (0-22).
Keene State hosts UMass-Boston in a key LEC doubleheader on
Saturday (12 p.m.).
