'KEENE, N.H. 09/21/05 - The ninth-ranked Keene State College men's soccer team improved its record to 7-0 with a 6-0 shutout win over Westfield State at Owl Athletic Complex on Wednesday.
Eric Scott (West Springfield, Mass.) had three goals to lead KSC to the non-conference win. It was the Owls' third straight shutout.
Scott gave Keene State a 1-0 lead when he put in a rebound. The Owls of Keene extended their lead to 3-0 with a pair of goals two minutes apart later in the first half. Alex Horne (Harvard, Mass.) put in his own rebound for his fifth of the season and Scott netted his second of the game when he fired in a dead ball into the top corner.
Scott, Ralph Rocco (Groton, Mass.) and Adam Gove (Kingston, N.H.) added second half goals. It was Gove's first college goal. With his hattrick Scott has a team-leading eight goals this season.
KSC goalie Matt Caron (Aston, Conn.) and Scott Pantone (Wolcott, Conn.) each made one save and shared the shutout for KSC. Richard Campbell (four saves) and Michael Thompson (Feeding Hills, Mass.) (five saves) each played a half in goal for WSC (1-3).
KSC travels to Southern Maine on Saturday for a LEC game against the Huskies.
