'PHOENIX, ARIZ. 3/18/06 - The Keene State College baseball
team was shutout by Johns Hopkins (Md.)University 11-0 in a
nine-inning game played in Phoenix, Ariz., on Saturday.
The Owls struggled at the plate with just six hits and in the
field where they committed four errors.
Johns Hopkins scored five unearned runs in the fifth inning on
two hits and three KSC errors.
"We had one bad inning and the wheels came off the cart," said
KSC Coach Ken Howe.
John Grainger (Keene, N.H.) went two-for-four while Jeff Perkins
(Dunbarton, N.H.), Ryan Jones (Nashua, N.H.), Jeremy Schilling
(Centerville, Mass.), and Nick Arroyo (Northridge, Ca.) picked up
one hit each for KSC.
Owl starter Jake Tenney (Surrey, N.H.) took the loss. He
gave up six runs (one earned), on two hits with three strikeouts
and three walks. Mike Wiseman (Centerville, Mass.), Keivn
Binney (Hopedale, Mass.), and Dan Martin (Cromwell, Conn.) also saw
action on the mound.
Keene State (7-4) wraps up its spring week trip to Phoenix with
a single game against Roger Williams University on Sunday.
