'BABSON PARK, MASS. 3/30/06 - Keene State College edged
Babson College 4-3 in non-conference baseball action at Govoni
Field on Thursday.
It was the third straight win for the Owls (10-4). Babson
drops to 6-7.
With the scored tied three-all after seven innings, sophomore
third baseman Joe Rousseau (Nashua, N.H.) opened the eighth inning
with a single. On Nick Arroyo's (Northridge, Ca.) attempted a
sacrifice bunt, the Babson pitcher threw the ball down the right
field line allowing Rousseau to come all away around with the
go-ahead run.
Trailing 1-0, KSC took a 3-1 lead in the top of fifth on an
error and RBI singles from Josh Watkins (Keene, N.H.) and Jeremy
Schilling (Centerville, Mass.). Schilling was two-for-five on the
day.
The Beavers tied the game with two runs in the bottom of
seventh.
Greg Ford (Nashua, N.H.) got the win in relief for the
Owls. The sophomore, now 2-0, didn't allow a run or hit
in 2 2/3 innings while fanning three batters. Jamie Morin
(Gofstown, N.H.) started for KSC. He gave up three runs on eight
hits with six strikeouts and two walks over seven innings.
"These are the games we have to win," said KSC Coach Ken
Howe. "We haven't had much luck with our non-conference
schedule in the past."
Keene State begins Little East play with a doubleheader at
Western Conn. On Saturday.
