'Henniker, NH 4/27/06 - The Keene State College baseball team pounded out 14 hits en route to a 12-1 non-conference victory over New England College in Henniker, N.H. on Thursday afternoon.

The Owls improve to 24-11, tying a record for most wins in a season (24) set by the 1999 squad, while NEC dropped to 8-23 overall.

Keene State would jump all over the Pilgrims scoring five runs in the first on John Grainger's (Keene, N.H.) RBI single, Joe Rousseau's (Nashua, N.H.) two-run double, Nick Arroyo's (Northridge, Ca.) RBI ground out, and Buck Merrill's (Colchester, Conn.) run producing single. KSC tacked on runs in the next four innings to build a comfortable 12-1 lead over NEC.

The Pilgrims lone run would come in the bottom of the second inning after Matt Leger (Concord, N.H.) singled and came home on Joe Leo's (Stoneham, Mass.) sacrifice fly.

Leading the way offensively for Keene was Jeremy Schilling (Centerville, MA) who was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored.  Rousseau and Arroyo also finished with two hits and two runs batted in each.

Five different Owls saw action on the mound this afternoon but starter Jamie Morin (Goffstown, NH) (4-1) would pick up the win, pitching five complete innings allowing no earned runs on three hits and striking out four.

Keene State will host UMass-Boston in an LEC doubleheader on Saturday (Noon) at Owl Athletic Complex.
