'KEENE, N.H. 4/6/06 - The Keene State College baseball team set
a school record for consecutive wins (9) with a 12-3 non-conference
victory over Mass College of Liberal Arts at Owl Athletic Complex
on Thursday. KSC had won eight straight in 1994 and 2002.
Ranked first in this week's New England Coaches' Poll, the Owls
improve to 16-4. The Trailblazers drop to 11-7.
The Owls went ahead for good with a seven run second
inning. Ryan Jones (Nashua, N.H.) and John Grainger (Keene,
N.H.) had run-producing doubles, and Joe Rousseau (Nashua, N.H.)
had an RBI single in the inning. KSC added three more runs in
the sixth with Greg Ford (Nashua, N.H.) knocking in a couple of
runs with a triple down the right field line. Grainger added a
two-run single in the eighth.
Grainger finished the game with two hits and three RBIs.
Jones, Ford and Rousseau had two hits and two RBIs each for KSC.
"It's a nice accomplishment," said KSC Coach Ken Howe about the
record winning streak. "We have a young team that's learning
how to win. At this point of the season, I couldn't ask for
more, but we have a long way to go."
Anthony Bruno went four-for-four for MCLA, which scored single
runs in the second, third, and sixth innings.
Jamie Morin (Goffstown, N.H.) scattered eight hits over his six
innings on the mound to improve his record to 2-1. The
sophomore southpaw struck out seven and walked two. James
Chevalier (Amherst, N.H.) worked the final three innings allowing
just a hit and fanning two batters.
Ryan Bridegroom (East Greenbush, N.Y.) (0-1) took the loss for
the Trailblazers.
KSC returns to LEC on Saturday when it hosts R.I. College. Last
