'MIDDLEBURY, Vermont - Middlebury improved to 3-0 on the season
as they picked up a 3-1 win over Keene State in a non-league game
played on Dragone Field. The Panthers will host Wesleyan on
Saturday at noon, while the Owls will travel to Southern Maine.
Middlebury took a 1-0 lead 18:48 in as Abby Kurtz-Phelan put
home her own rebound after a corner kick. The lead grew to 2-0 with
1:05 left in the half as Kurtz-Phelan found Kim Walker with a nice
through pass before Walker finished with a hard shot to the right
side.
Keene State jumped right back in the game at the 63:02 mark as
Courtney Gately's shot from 15 yards sailed over the head and off
the out-stretched hands of Middlebury keeper Adelle
Plunkett.
Middlebury gained some breathing room at 72:41 as Ashley Pfaff
broke down the right side before making a quick up pass to Nora
Tomlinson Weintraub. The rookie quickly centered a pass to Margaret
Owen who scored her first career goal.
Plunkett ended the game with seven saves for Middlebury, while
Elisabeth Rosen made three stops for Keene.
