'SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - With all the scoring taking place in the
first half, visiting Keene State posted a 2-1 victory over Western
New England College in a non-league match at Suprenant Field.
The Owls (2-1) took a 2-0 lead on goals by junior forward Renee
Halsey(Francestown, NH) in the 28th minute and senior midfielder
Tara Wagner(Avon, CT) in the 37th minute. Halsey knocked in a cross
to the far post for her first goal of the season. Wagner used her
left foot for her second goal of the year. Senior midfielder
Katie Stevens(Londonderry, NH) assisted on both scores.
Western New England College (1-2) got on the board when
sophomore forward Lauren Sokol (Enfield, CT) fired home a shot with
an assist from junior midfielder Stephanie Bibbo (Millville, MA) in
the 40th minute.
WNEC senior goalkeeper Marisa Sullivan (Halesite, NY) and
freshman Jen Johnson (Goshen, NY) of Keene State each made their
four saves in the second half to keep the match close.
KSC is at Framingham State on Saturday (12 p.m.).
