AMHERST, MASS. 4/10/07 - The Keene State College baseball
team dropped a tough 3-1 non-conference game to Amherst College on
Tuesday afternoon.
The Owls (14-8), mustered just two hits off of three Amherst
pitchers.
Entering the game with a three game wining streak, Keene State took
a 1-0 lead in top of the fourth inning. Ryan Jones (Nashua,
N.H.) led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Joe
Rousseau (Nashua, N.H.). Jones came around to score on a
two-out RBI double by Greg Ford (Nashua, N.H.).
Playing in their home opener, the Lord Jeffs (8-6) tied the score
in the bottom of the inning and added single runs in the seventh
and eighth.
Rousseau had the only other hit by the Owls, a single in the sixth
inning.
Starter Jamie Morin (Goffstown, N.H.) was the hard-luck loser for
KSC. The junior pitched seven innings giving up two runs on six
hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. His record goes to
2-2.
Pitchers Chris Edgar, Ryan Platzbecker, and Teddy Blanks combined
to keep the Owls' bats quiet.
Keene State is scheduled to play its long awaited home opener on
Wednesday against Fitchburg State (3:30 p.m.).
