KEENE, N.H. 9/29/07 - Goals by Megan Ryczek (East Haddam, Conn.)
and Megan Sheehan (Hebron, Conn.) lifted Eastern Conn. State
University to a 2-0 victory over Keene State College in a Little
East Conference women's soccer game played at Owl Athletic Complex
on Saturday.
It was the second straight loss for the Owls (6-4-1, 2-1 LEC),
who dropped their first LEC game of the season. Eastern Conn.
(4-4-1, 2-1 LEC) snapped a three game losing streak with the
victory.
Both goalies were called on to make breakaway saves midway in the
first half. A bid by KSC's Ally Beadle (East Hartford, Conn.)
was knocked a way by Warrior goalie Megan Gloster (Agawam, Mass.) a
the 24:25 mark. Later in the half at 39:35, ECSU's
Kassiani Bisbikos (Colchester, Conn.) was sent in by Ryczek.
Bisbbikos's drive was stopped by Owl goalie Samantha Hirsh
(Holliston, Mass.).
Ryczek broke the scoreless stalemate with two minutes to play in
the half when she went around an Owl defender and beat Hirsh to the
short side of the net.
Megan Sheehan (Colchester, Conn.) made it a 2-0 game at the 70:07
mark of the second half when her free kick from30-yards out alluded
Hirsh.
Hirsh had six saves for the Owls. Gloster finished with seven
saves for the Warriors to pick up her third shutout of the season.
Keene State is at Worcester State on Wednesday (4 p.m.).
