MIDDLEBURY, Vt. 9/17/08 - The Keene State College women's soccer
team saw its modest two game wining streak come to an end with a
2-0 non-conference shutot loss to Middlebury College on Wedneday
afternoon.
The Panthers (1-3-1)scored twice in the second half to earn a
2-0 victory and its first win of the season.
Following a scoreless first half, Nora Tomlinson-Weintraub put
the Panthers on the board just 2:17 into the second half, with a
line drive rocket from 18 yards out. Jenny Galgano gave the
Panthers some breathing room at 70:34 with a hard shot from the top
of the box that sailed over the head of Keene State freshman
goalkeeper Megan Dempsey (Wemouth, Mass.) who
finished the game with five saves. Lauryn Torch made four
saves in goal to pick up the shutout victory for the Panthers.
KSC had 11 shots, two each from sophomore Katie
Bradford (Lebanon, N.H.), freshman Shannon
Hennessey (Essex Junction, Vt.), and freshman
Britini Watkinson (South Hampton, N.H.)
The Owls (5-2) will be at Southern Maine on Saturday (1
p.m.) for its first LEC game on the season.
