NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Keene State College women's soccer
team scored once in each half to post a 2-0 Little East
Conference victory over the Corsairs at the UMass Dartmouth
Athletic Complex Saturday.
Senior midfielder Kendra Spencer (Petoskey, MI)
put the Owls on the board when she dribbled in and scored
unassisted in the 19th minute. Senior forward
Katie Bradford (West Lebanon, NH) capped the
scoring when she converted a cross by junior midfielder
Nora Mahoney (Belchertown, MA) and scored from
short range in the 79th minute. It was Bradford's
team-leading eighth goal of the season.
The Owls out-shot the Corsairs, 16-4. Tanya Braga
(Hudson, MA) made nine saves for UMass Dartmouth, while
sophomore Meghan Dempsey (Weymouth, MA) made two
saves for KSC in her fourth shutout of the season.
"We didn't play well as a team, but it's a Little East win and
takes us one step closer to winning the regular season
championship," said KSC Coach Denise Lyons.
KSC's last regular season title came in 2004.
UMass Dartmouth dropped to 4-8-1 and 1-3-0 in the Little East
Conference with the defeat, while Keene State improved to 10-3-0
and 4-0-0 with the victory. The Owls will host Middlebury Wednesday
evening at 6:30 p.m.
