CHANDLER, AZ. 3/17/09 - The Keene State College baseball might not
want to leave Arizona. Through six games of their spring week
trip, the Owls have scored 72 runs and collected 98 hits. Keene
State (4-2) continued its torrid hitting on Tuesday, spraying 16
hits around Snedigar Field in Chandler, Az., in a 15-1 victory over
William Patterson University of New Jersey.
The Owls scored early an often in the game. Leading 5-0, KSC
broke the game open with a seven run fourth inning that included
RBI singles by junior Anthony Cipolla
(Glastonbury, Conn.), freshman Cody Callahan
(Seekonk, Mass.), and senior Jaime Chevalier
(Amherst, N.H.), and a three-run triple by senior Jeff
Perkins (Dunbarton, N.H.).
All eight Owl starters had at least one hit. Perkins finished
the game with two hits and five RBIs. Junior Keith
Patnode (Keene, N.H.), who had three hits, Chevalier,
Cipolla and senior Beau Darak (Londonderry, N.H.)
had two RBIs each.
Sophomore Corey Vogt (Suffield, Conn.) was the
recipient of the offensive support. He tossed five innings of
six hit ball while fanning two to pick up his first win of the
season. Freshmen Adam Veino (Londonderry,
N.H.) and Dan Wogksch (Bethel, Conn.) also saw
time on the mound.
The Pioneers fall to 4-4.
Keene State faces Marian (WI) College on Wednesday in a single nine
inning game.
