SALEM, MASS. 10/6/10 – Keene State College and Salem State College battled to a 0-0 double-overtime tie in non-conference men's soccer action at Alumni Field on Wednesday night.

It was Keene State's (8-3-1) first tie of the season.  Salem State goes to 4-3-3.

"We whistled balls by the post and over the cross-bar all night," said KSC Coach Ron Butcher.

Keene State had several opportunities to score in the hard-fought game.  In the second half, senior Luke Sisco (Pine Plains, N.Y.) missed a point-blank bid and sophomore Joe Senecal (Manchaug, Mass.) came up empty on a breakaway attempt. KSC had an opportunity to win the game in the closing seconds of regulation, but freshman Scott Douglas's (East Greenwich, R.I.)  drive sailed just wide of the post.

Douglas also missed an open net opportunity in the first overtime period.

The Vikings' best chances  to score came in the second half came  off the foot of Rafael Santos, who rocketed two shots that KSC goalie Paul Blackmer (Boylston, Mass.) was able to turn them away.

Keene State's back four defenders played well in front of Blackmer who made eight saves to post his second straight shutout.

Luis Marques stopped six shots for the Vikings.

Keene State returns to Little East play on Saturday when it travels to North Dartmouth to face UMass-Dartmouth.
