Box Score CHANDLER, AZ. 3/16/10 – A late-game rally by the
Keene State College baseball team came up short in a 13-11 lose to
Concordia (Wis.) University in Chandler Arizona on Tuesday.
Keene State (4-2), which saw its four game winning streak come
to an end, fell behind 12-2 after giving up nine runs in the fifth
inning. The Owls used four pitchers in the Falcon
uprising.
KSC began its comeback with single runs in the sixth and seventh
innings. The Owls scored three runs in the eighth to make it
13-7. Sophomore Kyle Morrill (Auburn, N.H.)
tripled and came home on an error and senior Anthony
Cipolla (Glastonbury, Conn.) had an RBI single.
Morrill made things interesting with a grand slam home run, a
shot over the center field fence with no outs in the ninth.
It was Morrill's third home run of the trip. However, the top
of the order couldn't keep the rally going.
“We always tell the guys we're not out of a ball
game until the final out is made,” said KSC Coach Ken
Howe.
Senior pitcher Ben Sonberg (Bow, N.H.) took the
loss on the mound.
The Owls face SUNY-Brockport for a single-game on Wednesday.
