CHANDLER, AZ. 3/20/10 – The Keene State College baseball team completed its 12-game spring week trip with an 11-4 win over the Carleton (Minn.) College Knights at Snedigar Sportsplex in Chandler, Az. on Saturday.

The Owls, who conclude their trip with a 7-5 record, scored four runs in the second inning, to go up 5-0. Sophomore Kyle Morrill (Auburn, N.H.) had a two-run single to left and senior Keith Patnode (Keene, N.H.) brought in a run with an RBI double.

KSC went up 6-1 on an RBI double by junior designated hitter Peter Burgio (Bolton, Conn.) in the third.  Morrill knocked in two more runs in a three-run fifth inning.

“I've been feeling very comfortable at the plate and seeing the ball real well,” said Morrill, who finished the trip with a team-high 21 RBIs. “Hopefully I can continue my good hitting when we return home.”

The Owls collected 12 hits in the game. Freshman Sean Gavin (Keene, N.H.), Patnode, and Morrill each had two hits.

Junior pitcher Dan Nelson (Glastonbury, Conn.) improved his record to 2-0.  He went six innings, giving up three runs on six hits with a couple of strikeouts.  Senior Ben Sonberg (Bow, N.H.), sophomore Tim Thiesing (South Grafton, Mass.), and freshman Tim Quagliaroli (Windsor Locks, Con.) each tossed an inning in relief.

“It's been a long week.  The guys are tired and beat up, so we're looking forward to getting home,” said KSC Coach Ken Howe.

Keene State begins its northern schedule on Wednesday when it hosts Springfield College.
