Box Score FRAMINGHAM, MASS. 9/11/10 – Freshman Jessica Berthiaume
(Worcester, Mass.) scored four goals and senior Katie Bradford
(Lebanon, N.H.) finished with a goal and two assists to
lead the Keene State College women' soccer team to a 7-1
non-conference victory over Framingham State on Saturday.
The Owls, who have scored 12 goals in their last two games,
improve to 3-1-1. Framingham State (0-3) has yet to win this
season.
Keene State scored three goals in just over a five minute period
in the first half to open up a large lead. Berthiaume netted
the first two goals, scoring at the 12:37 mark and
finding the back of the net less than two minutes later. .Sophomore
Joan Hamel
(Weare, NH) scored to make it 3-0. With just under 10 minutes
to play in the first half, junior Jane Walsh
(Portsmouth, RI) sent a lob just under the cross bar to push the
Owls lead to 4-0 at the break. Berthiaume added her third of
the game in the 54th minute to extend the Owls lead to
5-0.
Keene added two goals in the final minute with senior Katie
Bradford (Lebanon, N.H.) and Berthiaume finding the back of the
net.
The Owls took 27 shots in the game to the Rams 10. Junior
Megan
Dempsey (East Weymouth, Mass.) saw the majority of the minutes
in net for the Owls and made four saves. Jillian Lohneiss
(West Hartford, Conn.) made one save in her time in net and Lea Swanson
(Wakefield, RI) did not make a save. Framingham State
goalkeeper Kaitlyn Rossi (Pepperell, Mass.) made 10 saves and
picked up the loss.
The Owls host Tufts on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.
