"I thought it was a good team effort," said head coach Ron Butcher. "The midfield and Danny Silverman *Maynard, Mass.) played very well tonight and it was good to see the ball find the back of the net four times."
The Owls hit the scoreboard first, on Silverman's second goal of the season off a crossing ball from junior Kyle Leavitt (Plymouth, Mass.) for the 1-0 lead just 8:47 into the game.
KSC extended their advantage to 2-0 on a goal from sophomore forward Scott Douglas (East Greenwich, R.I.) on a strike from just outside the 18-yard box in the contest's 35th minute.
After the Fighting Scots cut the lead in half on a goal from Luke Partain, senior Eric Martens (Peterborough, N.H.) put the Owls up 3-1 on his first tally of the season at the 68:23 mark.
Less than a minute later Gordon cut the lead to 3-2 on an own goal by KSC to make it a one-goal game down the stretch.
Freshman forward Michael Jacques (Tolland, Conn.) put the game out of reach off a pass from Martens with 1:52 remaining as the Owls held off for the 4-2 non-conference victory.
Sophomore netminder Malcolm Cheney (Hopkinton, Mass.) had six saves for KSC in the win, while Spencer Lord stopped 11 shots and allowed four goals in the losing effort for the Fighting Scots.
Keene State outshot Gordon 20-15 in the contest and held a 6-2 advantage in corners.
