KEENE, N.H. 4/15/12 – Seeking revenge for the 21-6 loss back on March 28th, the Babson College Beavers handed the Keene State College baseball team their first loss of the season with a final score of 15-3 in seven innings.

 "Babson is a good ball-club and we were not ready to play today," said KSC head coach Ken Howe. "We have to put this in the past."

With the loss, the Owls dropped to 21-8 on the season, while the victory improves the Beavers to 19-11 on the campaign.

Babson sophomore Derek Richards (Framingham, Mass.) went the distance for the Beavers, scattering eight KSC hits while striking out seven and issuing three walks to even his record at 3-3 for the season.

Starting the game for KSC, senior Nick Winn (W. Hartford, Conn.) totaled four innings of work, allowing eight hits and six runs with a strikeout in only four innings of work to drop to 2-1 on the year. The Owls bullpen couldn't contain the Babson offense either, combining for three innings, 11 hits and nine runs in the loss. "We don't like to make excuses but we've had six games in five days so we were a bit thin in the pitching department," said Howe.

Babson's 3-through-8 hitters each had at least two hits, and combined to go 16-for-26 with 12 RBI's and 14 runs scored. Senior outfielder Billy Miller (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) went 4-for-5 with three RBI's and four runs scored. Third baseman Chris Kucher (Westwood, Mass.) finished the day 2-for-4 with three RBI's and two homers, after being named to the D3Baseball.com team of the week last week.

Keene State sophomore Andrew Gummow (Brookline, Mass.) was the only owl to collect multiple hits, finishing the day 2-for-3 in the designated hitter role.

The Owls return to action on Tuesday, as they will travel to play in-state and conference foe Plymouth State University at 3:30 p.m. "We need to bounce back if we are going to be successful," said Howe. "We have to be ready to play the next game."
