Box Score KEENE, N.H. 9/8/12 – Sophomore Kristen Tetreault's (Tolland, Conn.) with 12 seconds to play in the second overtime period gave Roger Williams University a 1-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over Keene State College on Saturday.
The winning goal was set up on a corner kick by junior Hannah Noel (Adams, Mass.) Tetreault tried to head the ball to the top of the goal. The ball temporarily alluded KSC sophomore goalie Torrie Crenson (North Salem, N.Y.) who was finally able to grab it. But the officials ruled the ball had crossed the goal line, giving the Hawks the victory.
Keene State, which outshot RWU 25-10, controlled play especially in the second half but couldn't finish.
Crenson made a pair of diving stops on Tetreault and junior Katie Lyndon (Riverside, R.I.) in the opening minutes of the game to keep the Hawks off the board.
The Owls took the play to Roger Williams in the second half, but were unable to get the ball past Hawk junior goalie Stephanie Jaques (Burlington, Vt.)
KSC misfired on three consecutive kicks midway in the half. In the closing second of regulation, junior Jessica Berthiaume (Worcester, Mass.) was unable to connect with junior Kara Pavlidis (Lee, N.H.) who was in front of the net.
In the overtime, a shot by freshman Shannon Summers (Keene, N.H.) just sailed wide of the net and Pavlidis was unable to get ahead on a cross from junior Brittany Boscarino (Ellington, Conn.) with four second to go in the first overtime.
Crenson finished the game with three saves for Keene State (1-3). Jaques stopped nine shots to post the shutout and give the Hawks (1-1-1) their first win of the season.
