Box Score NORTON, Mass.--Host Wheaton College (Mass.) got the go-ahead goal with 15 minutes remaining in a 2-1 win over Keene State College in non-conference women's soccer action on Wednesday night.
The Owls, who have lost three in a row, are now 5-6. Wheaton improves to 6-4-1.
The Lyons struck first in the seventh minute of the game when Lauren Corigliano headed in a cross from teammate Julia Cipriano for her fifth goal of the season.
Torrie Crenson kept the score at 1-0 when she stoned the Lyons' Kelsee Howes in the 28th minute, while at the other end, Wheaton 'keeper Ali Hinton kept out Ellen Granata in the 38th minute, and Katie Silegy in the 43rd.
Still down 1-0 at halftime, KSC's Taylor Farland tested Hinton in the 64th minute, and again in the 66th. KSC finally equalized in the 74th minute when Taylor Farland pounced on a loose ball and scored her sixth of the season and second in as many games, driving the ball into the upper left corner.
Just two minutes later, the Lyons were back in front, as Corigliano tucked in her second of the game off a blocked shot attempt by Kaitlin Montoya.
The Lyons outshot Keene State 17-8. Crenson kept the Owls in the game with seven saves, her fourth game this year with at least that many. Hinton made four stops for Wheaton.
KSC resumes LEC play with a trip to Rhode Island College on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Lyons host Wellesley at 2 p.m. on the same date.
