Box Score KEENE, N.H.--Goals from Shannon Summers, Alex Haley, and Katie Silegy gave the Keene State College women's soccer team a 3-1 win over UMass Dartmouth in a key Little East Conference matchup on Saturday at Owl Athletic Complex.
The Owls are 8-6 overall, with a 3-1 LEC record that is currently tied for second in the conference with UMass Boston. The Owls will travel to play the Beacons next weekend. The Corsairs are 6-6, with a 2-2 LEC mark.
Keene State almost opened the scoring in the first minute, as Taylor Farland found her self in space but shot wide from the top of the penalty area.
KSC continued to press, as Farland and Beverly Cole saw their shots wrapped up by Corsairs' goalie Madison Boucher.
The 37th minute saw the Owls make the breakthrough, as Morgan Kathan threaded a through ball through to Summers, who placed the ball past Boucher for her fourth goal of the season.
Alex Haley doubled the lead on the otherside of halftime with her first goal of the year. Beverly Cole slid in a pass that Haley curled past Boucher in the 59th minute for a 2-0 lead.
The advantage would only last seven minutes, when the Corsairs pulled back a goal. Erica Farias stabbed in Maura Gonsalves' cross past Dannielle Warhall to make it a 2-1 game.
Megan Cole nearly drew the Corsairs level but Warhall made the save in the 66th minute.
KSC wrapped up with win with five minutes to go. Kathan was again the provider, delivering a cross that Katie Silegy hit on the first time volley for her second goal in three games.
Warhall finished with three saves to pick up her third win of the year. Boucher made six stops for UMD.
KSC heads to No. 9 Amherst College on Wednesday, October 15 for a 7 p.m. kickoff. UMass Dartmouth plays Roger Williams at 4 p.m. on the same day.
