Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Drew Sommer scored with 32 seconds left in the first overtime to lead host Springfield College to a 1-0 win over visiting Keene State College on Tuesday night.
The loss brings Keene State's six game unbeaten streak to an end. The Owls had not lost a game since another overtime defeat, to Eastern Connecticut State, on September 27. The Owls are now 8-6-1 overall.
The first half saw limited opportunites for both teams, with the Owls registering two shots on goal to Springfield's three. Cam Rogers' shot in the 27th minute was blocked, and Riley Steele sent the follow-up wide.
The Pride had the best chance of the second period, as Sotir Roba saw his shot cleared off the line and Mark Keller was on hand to scoop up the rebound in the 52nd minute.
KSC's Ian Downing shot over the bar in the 81st minute, then fired wide with 31 seconds left in regulation.
Springfield put on more pressure in overtime, and got the game winning goal as Christian Steidle set up Sommer for his fourth of the year.
Mark Keller started between the pipes for Keene State, making six saves.
Keene State will look to get back on track with a visit to Western Connecticut State University on Sunday, October 26, at 1 p.m.
