Box Score KEENE, N.H.--Alex Haley and Taylor Farland each scored a pair of goals as the Keene State College women's soccer team posted a 5-2, non-conference win over Westfield State University on Wednesday night at Owl Athletic Complex.
Keene State is now 11-8, while Westfield State falls to 10-4-2.
An action packed opening to the game saw three goals in the first six minutes. Westfield State took the lead 91 seconds into the game when Amanda Grant's shot trickled under KSC goalie Torrie Crenson for a 1-0 lead.
Two minutes later, the Owls were level, as KSC was awarded a free kick from about 20 yards out. Taylor Farland made no mistake, bending a perfect shot past WSU goalie Anne Stack for her eighth of the season. A further two minutes later, KSC was in front for good as Kate Piersiak played in Haley, who deposited her second goal of the season past Stack in the sixth minute.
KSC added two more quick-fire goals later in the first half. Haley scored her second of the game and third of the season in the 28th minute, and two minutes after that, KSC was awarded a free kick that Farland buried past Stack for a 4-1 lead that KSC would carry into halftime.
Shannon Hart's goal in the 80th minute made it 5-1, while Westfield State pulled one back with four minutes to go when Kelsey Murray's shot rebounded off the post and fell to Asleigh Chretien to score her seventh of the year.
Crenson finished with six saves in the KSC net. Stack made two stops in playing the first half for Westfield State. Leah Ciampa played the second half and made seven saves.
KSC heads to Southern Maine for the regular season finale at 2:30 pm. The Owls can finish anywhere from second to fourth in the Little East Conference. Westfield State hosts Framingham State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
