Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Katie Silegy's first collegiate goal was the difference as the Keene State College women's soccer team beat Rhode Island College 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in Little East Conference action.
Keene State (6-6, 2-1 LEC) put the pressure on early when a free kick by senior defender Kate Piersak found the post in the 18th minute.
Rhode Island College (1-9, 0-3 LEC) kept the their defensive posture until a late corner kick by junior defender Jennifer Wilson found freshman midfielder Silegy in front of the net for the goal in the 45th minute.
Dannielle Warhall, making her first start of the season, made three saves. Audrey Maia (1-6) made 13 saves in defeat,
The second half saw more of a defensive struggle with both teams trying to find their offense. Senior midfielder Harmony Tillison had the Anchorwomen's best chance of the game when her shot from 13 yards out narrowly soared over the crossbar. Late pressure from the Anchorwomen wouldn't be enough as they dropped their ninth straight contest.
The Owls held the advantage in shots, 27-11, and corner kicks, 11-2.
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Mitchell on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. The Owls will host Worcester State on Wednesday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m.
