Owls Power Past Eagles, 9-2

NASHUA, N.H. – Keene State College used a 14-hit attack and broke open a close game with three runs in the fifth along with three in the eighth to post a 9-2 victory over host Daniel Webster College on Sunday at Harvey Woods Field.

Joe Libby paced the Owls (9-18) going 4-for-6 at the leadoff spot scoring twice and knocked in a run, while Nick Vita was 3-for-6 with two RBI. Andrew Gummow and Joe Cortese knocked in a pair of runs for the winners.
Erick Bourdeau picked up a pair of hits and knocked in one for DWC (11-19) while Dan Quinn knocked in a run and Devin DeCarteret  went 2 for 3.

Kevin Guild started, allowing one earned run on four hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Keith Simpson (1-2) picked up the win, allowing one unearned run over four innings.  John Hickson was touched for the loss (1-3) allowing two unearned runs on four hits over four innings. He struck out one and walked one.
The teams traded single runs in the second as Libby sent Tanner Chase home with a two-out single and Quinn followed for the Eagles scoring Bourdeau with a two-out single to left in the bottom of the frame.

The Owls forged ahead in the fourth as Jeff Lunn reached on an error and came across on a Libby single. Keene then plated three in the fifth as Gummow and Cortese knocked in runs while Cody Dube scored on a wild pitch.
 
The Eagles got one back in the sixth as Brigham singled, went to second on a passed ball, stole third, and scored on Bourdeau's single to right.  Keene iced it in the eighth as Vita, Gummow and Parilla all pushed runs across and the Owls tacked on one in the ninth for the 9-2 final.
The Eagles return to action on Monday hosting Elms in a NECC doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Keene State hosts Springfield in the final non-conference game of the year on Tuesday.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
