Box Score KEENE, N.H.--First half goals from Beverly Cole and Shannon Summers boosted the Keene State College women's soccer team to a 2-0 non-conference win over Clark University (Mass.) on Wednesday night at Owl Athletic Complex.
Keene State, which has strung together consecutive wins for the first time this season, is now 4-3. Clark, which has yet to win a game this season, is now 0-6 in 2014.
It took KSC 59 seconds to get the scoring going, as a loose ball in the box found its way to Beverly Cole, who stabbed home her first goal of the season.
KSC had more opportunities in the half, with Summers forcing a save from Paolini and Kali Santino shooting over the goal.
The Owls doubled their advantage in the 40th minute. Jennifer Wilson played a perfect ball over the top for Summers to latch onto, round Clark netminder Gabby Paolini, and slot in her second goal in three games.
KSC could have had a third in the 67th minute off a corner kick, when the ball fell to Kate Piersiak, but Paolini made the point blank save.
Clark pushed for a goal, but Dannielle Warhall made the save on Charlotte Mays.
Torrie Crenson and Dannielle Warhall each played a half in goal for the Owls. Crenson made two saves in the first 45 minutes, while Warhall played the second half and made one stop. Paolini finished with seven saves in the Clark net.
Both teams begin their conference slates this weekend. Keene State opens against Plymouth State University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20. The Cougars travel to Smith College for a 1 p.m. kick-off.
