Keene State Men's Soccer Falls to Wheaton

Box Score

KEENE, N.H.--Visiting Wheaton College (Mass.) scored five first half goals en route to a 7-0 win over host Keene State College in non-conference soccer action at Owl Athletic Complex.

Wheaton, which has scored 19 goals in its first four games this season, is now 4-0.  Keene State ends a season opening three game homestand at 1-2.

The Lyons got on the board just 62 seconds into the contest.  Off a quickly taken throw-in, Scott Enman slid in a centering feed to Travis Blair, who tucked in his fourth of the season past KSC goalie Mike Ketterman.

Wheaton's goal spurred Keene State into immediate action - Promise Kpee's shot was blocked, followed by a pair of corner kicks for the Owls.  Cam Rogers leaped to direct a header on targer, but it was wrapped up by Wheaton starter Matt Dickey.

In the seventh minute, Kaleb Lique-Naitove ripped a shot wide from distance, and six minutes later, Wheaton had doubled their lead.  Ben Altneu picked up the ball just outside the box and let loose a shot that evaded Ketterman's grasp.

The Lyons would add three more before halftime, as Noah Kossoff made it 3-0 in the 23rd, and Steven Pinkski scored his first of the year in the 40th.  Just a minute later Matheus Goncalves added another to make it 5-0 at halftime.

The scoring subsided in the second half, and Nick Godzyk nearly pulled one back for KSC with a long-range effort that skipped wide in the 79th minute.  Wheaton tacked on two more in the final 12 minutes to complete the scoring.

Ketterman made one stop in net for KSC.  Dickey played the first half and made three saves.  David Sorkenn replaced him at halftime and made two stops in the second half.

KSC returns to action on September 10, traveling to Western New England University for the Owls' first road game of the year.  Wheaton will host Emmanuel (Mass.) on September 9.
