Keene State Women's Soccer Falls To Endicott In Weather Shortened Game

Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass.--Endicott College got the only goal of the game in the 61st minute in a weather shortened, 1-0 win over Keene State College in non-conference women's soccer action on Saturday.

Despite holding a 12-3 edge in shots in the first half, the Gulls were stymied by the efforts of Keene State senior goalie Victoria Crenson, who made six of her career high 13 saves in the first half.

The Owls had the first shot of the game 11 seconds in, as Shannon Summers tested Endicott 'keeper Katie Donnelly.  Crenson then stood tall to deny Paige Marinelli in the second minute, and again in the 18th.  Crenson was at her best with a double stop on Jessica Joseph, denying her a headed attempt and smothering the follow-up.
The teams traded chances just before halftime; Crenson stoned Endicott's Shelby McLenithan, while Summers shot over the Endicott goal in the dying seconds of the half.
A thunderstorm forced a 30 minute delay before the start of the second half.  Endicott would go in front part-way through the second half, when Joseph beat Crenson off a feed from Laura Wysocki.
Lightning was again spotted in the 77th minute, forcing a second delay, and eventually the game was called off.  The result stands as the game had passed the NCAA mandated 70 minute mark.
Keene State finishes out its five game road trip with a visit to Middlebury College on Wednesday afternoon. Endicott will play at Smith on the same day.
