Box Score KEENE, N.H.--A pair of first half goals proved to be the difference as the Castleton University men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 win over Keene State College on Saturday.
The Owls fall to 0-1, while the Spartans pick up their first win of the season and are now 1-1.
Playing on an unseasonably warm Saturday afternoon, the Owls were limited to mostly shots from distance at Castleton 'keeper Amir Pasic, who finished with six saves.
It look only 13 minutes for Castleton to take the lead, as Jake Tietgens played in Solo Felekani, who scored with a shot to the far post past KSC goalie Mark Keller.
Tietgens scored Castleton's second, as the Spartans took a quick free kick, and Tietgens whipped in a shot past Keller with seven minutes left in the first half.
The Owls tried to get on the board in the second half, but Pasic wrapped up Eddie Mercer's volleyed effort in the 68th minute, and was equal to a snap shot from Brett Sullivan in the 71st.
KSC outshot the Spartans 16-7, but could not find a way past Pasic.
Keene State will try to pick up the first win of the season against Springfield College, hosting the Pride on September 6 at 1 p.m.
