Men's Soccer Triumphs Over Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Keene State men's soccer program earned an essential Little East Conference (LEC) win on Saturday at Arold Field, as the Owls were victorious over Plymouth State, 3-0.

Tale of the Tape 

  • The two teams now hold a recent series of 3-2, with Plymouth State holding the advantage over Keene State. This is the first win for the Owls over the Panthers since the 2013 season. 
  • Promise Kpee has now scored a total of 12 goals on the season, surpassing his total of 10 from the 2015 season, and leads the LEC in goals. 
  • Keene State held Plymouth to a 18-4 shot margin and 11-7 advantage in corner kicks. 
  • The Panther's goalkeeper Felix Lindeberg notched eight saves in the loss, while the Owls' goalkeeper Jason Smith made one stop in the win. 

First Half Highlights 

  • Kpee tallied the first goal of the game, as he chipped the ball in for the Owls in the 18th minute. 
  • A shot by Jerry Randolph in the 34th minute, aimed to get one back for the Panthers, but the shot went high. 
  • A surge of shots and corner kicks beginning in the 39th minute produced goal scoring opportunites for Keene State, but the Owls could not find the back of the net for the remainder of the half.  

Second Half Highlights 

  • In the 71st minute, Keegan LaBerge added insurance for the Owls, as he collected a pass from Jacob Chiza, providing Keene State with a larger lead, 2-0, with less than 20 minutes remaining in regulation. 
  • The Owls' offense kept pressing throughout the half, as Kpee added the third and final goal for Keene State in the 86th minute. 
  • Two shots in the 88th and 89th minute attempted to take away the Owls' shutout, but it was not enough for the Panthers, as Colin Jerome's shot went wide and Nick Rutherford's shot was picked up by Smith, allowing Keene State to come away with the clean sheet.
